Hi Samsung,

Is there a reason why you don't bring Samsung wallet in our country? I mean, you keep selling phones here but doesn't bother providing all your services. I'm pretty sure banks will want to use your app but you are just not willing to bring it here for some reason.

Hello tsolo,

Thanks for your comments and inquiry here. I feel you and I'm excited too, to have the Samsung Pay apps rollout in our beloved Samsung Galaxy devices in the Philippines. But in the meantime, Samsung Pay is tentative here in the Philippines. It's still not available, as of the moment.

Rest assured that you will be notified and it will be announced through our official Samsung Philippines website and or through your Samsung Members app notification bell icon.

I read somewhere before that they need BSP approval before it can be used here. I'm not sure if Apple Pay and Google Wallet are available here. If not, it's likely the same reason.

I don't think it is BSP preventing them, we already have tap to pay infrastructure. In fact if you have cards from overseas you can use Samsung pay and Apple pay here because I tried it myself but I just can't add a local banks credit card, they are not supported. Additionaly, Eastwest Bank even have to create their own Tap to Pay app EW Pay so we can use NFC payments.

I use samsung pay in the US and whenever I am here in the Philippines I still use samsung pay I just tap my phone on the POS like I always do no problem. I'm not sure why you limit your tech and people are complaining with you. Same with Apple pay if you're not in the US it doesnt work but once setup then you can use it elsewhere hHa

Are there any progress on this? EastWest Bank have created an app (EWPay) to do this and I'm sure Samsung can reach out to any bank and make a deal.

from what I have read with a DigitalBank (GoTyme) CEO, the Payment Platform (like Samsung Pay or Apple Pay) must reach out to the bank first and can make a deal and take it from there.

I hope Samsung Pay would be the first mobile platform standard that can do it here.
Most payment infrastructure in the Philippines are NFC capable, been using GooglePay with my AU-based credit card without issues.

🤞🤞🤞

You can install Samsung Wallet even if you're in unsupported country, you just have to change your device's csc although you may still not be able to add locally issued bank cards but you can add the international ones (supported by Samsung Wallet). On the other note, I already got the Samsung Wallet app and added all my IDs from Philippines and it's working great. I can add boarding passes from flights as well but only from Emirates, Korean Air, KLM, Ryanair, and Air France because these are the airlines which is supported by Samsung Wallet.
