My Tab -A is doing the same. Was good till a few days ago di all the O.P did and bad download speed but upload was fine. I tested two other galaxy phones on wifi with data off and a laptop all getting over 100Mbps..

The only difference was a new modem with Wi-Fi 6 capability. surely a 2 year old tablet can work on that ?

Purchased a Galaxy Tab A tablet the other day. The wifi connection on it was horrible (getting 0-3 Mbps when all other devices getting 25-30). Took it back to the store and exchanged it. New one has the same issue. I've factory reset it, I've reset the router, I've cleared cache on the wifi connection. I don't know what else to do. If I can't get a consistent connection to wifi it's no go good to me as I won't be able to stream or play games. Anyone else have a similary issue or a suggestion?

Hi RJMaher, sounds like there is a huge interference in your house.

1. Wireless speed minimum already reach n standard, which means easily reach 300Mbps. But your normal speed is only 25-30Mbps, which means consider slow. Either your router has issue or your home full of interference.

2. 1st Tab A have problem, and you got 2nd new Tab A, still having same problem.

So, I have a feeling that your WiFi have some connectivity issue. Sounds like not the Tab A problem. Tab A support up to wireless N speed (Max 300Mbps).

What band are you on for wifi? Also, what is the actual model of your Galaxy Tab A. The Galaxy Tab A 7" is not compatible with A/C. If your other devices are connected using a different wifi standard then the results you are getting would be different. I'd say definitely check your router/modem settings to see what its connected as.

Hi there I have had similar issues, when i log into wifi at home fro my samsung galaxy tab s2 i note that network speed is often 1 Mbps, so i switch off wifi on my tablet and then switch back on and i get around 500 Mbps.

If i do same on my samsung A10 phone i get a constant 72 Mbps. I can only assume that there must be a setting on my tab that needs changing. Not sure if this helps?

Hi , i actually have the same issue here.. and even tho most people in here seems to say that his issue ome from interference or conectivity issue, i really doubt so.. my galaxy tab A is the ONLY device having issue with the wifi at my place.. have a 30mb down/10mb up connection at home wich work with both my pc, my nintendo switch , my laptop and both of my phone... they all get a speedtest result of around 24mb/7mb on ookla .. all but that **bleep** tab.. drives me crazy tbh.. i tried all of those useless advice everyone keep giving like they were automated customer service bots , without any changes..

- forget connection then reconect

- reset modem/rooter and tab

- factory reset

and before someone suggest it , im totally aware that if all the devices i mentioned above are connected at the same time its gonna slow down.. i tried it my only the tab connected .. same result was getting a speed test of around 4-5mb down and 1-2mb up.. please anyone with a useful trick up his sleeve?

also, is it normal that the tab itselve is reallly slow .. everything i try to do with it takes forever.. and its almost brand new.. and the storage almost empty too .. heeeelp 😩

Anything requiring an interactive wifi connection is incredibly slow. I've tried everything listed above. My TabA is Android 8.0, and Samsung stopped supporting any updates to mine, saying it is a 2016, even though I bought two of these new from Costco in mid-2017. So I cannot "update software" according to Samsung support last Tuesday.

I was seriously considering buying another, until I read that someone else in this line tried that, too, without wifi improvement.

I have the Tab A (2019) model. In my home i have an ASUS RT-AC5300. This is a powerful router with tri-band and can also use mobile network. 2.4 Ghz band has 1000 Mbps and there are also two 5 Ghz band, and altogether up to 5300 Mbps. On all devices, cabled and wireless i have right above 500 Mhz up and down. That is my subscription, 500/500. BUT, on my Samsung Tab A....... it varies from usually 50 Mbps up to 140 Mbps on the 2.4 Ghz band. On the 5 Ghz bands it comes up to 250-270 Mbps. This tablet has a/b/g/n/ac , and should therefore be able to max out up to 500/500 as my other devices. I have also tried all the solutions mentioned on this forum, and none of them helps. I am not complaining much as the device works and have a good speed, but there IS a big difference between max 270 and 500+ Mbps.

This is an old thread, but I was experiencing the EXACT same issues on my Galaxy Tab A7:
- Galaxy tab can connect to wifi, but...
- Extremely slow wi-fi
- Intermittent inability to load any websites
- All other devices run just fine

Pay no attention to anyone that tells you the problem is interference, that should be discarded as soon as you verify that other devices work well except for the Galaxy Tab.

I found the solution to my situation so I'll leave it here in case someone still reads this.

In my case the problem was caused by the following:
1. I have another Samsung device (could be a Galaxy phone, a note, another tab; as long as it is Android)
2. In that device, I changed the Wi-fi settings from DHCP to a static IP (so the phone always uses the same IP instead of getting new ones from the router every now and then)
3. When I set up my Tab A7 I loaded all my setting from my Samsung phone, INCLUDING the remembered wi-fi passwords and settings

Because the settings were copied from one device to another, both devices ended up with the SAME exact IP, meaning from the router's point of view they were the same device and it didn't know how to differentiate between them.

The solution is easy: just change one of the devices to use DHCP or assign them different static IPs. As soon as I did that my tablet instantly started working perfectly!

NOTE: I've seen some people say that switching from 2.4GHz to 5GHz fixed the problem, I suspect they had the same issue as me and switching the frequency basically achieves the same thing.

ALSO NOTE: If your Tab is already using DHCP or you've verified it has a different IP from all other devices in your network then sadly my solution won't be able to help.

I have the same issue and get less than 1mb download on a 144 mbps line. My note 9 sitting right next to the tab gets 75mbps download speed, so it isn't interference, router or any other line issue. The tab has been updated to latest firmware and I have disabled all the apps that were running
