devices normally get 1 major OS update, the A series had 2. be thankful you got that... Samsung doesn't care about devices over a year and a half old, they will only give security patches after 2 years... and that's only for a limited time also... it's called "planned obsolescence"

A5 should have had 2 updates. mine started with 6 then 7 now on 8

it's not too slow. but just part of the 2 year axe Go on xda and grab the hades rom. There's lineage 16 which is pie, there's a couple hades roms to test out and a bunch of other stuff. Wouldn't doubt you'll get a Samsung port for pie. You're only limited if you let yourself be.
I liked the hades A8 port. Plus you can wipe the dust off of that perfectly fine FM tuner. I switched to the A8 and its FM is blocked, well not in mine.
You should be able to open up a few other features like built-in call recording, camera shutter sound toggle, and my personal fav, blank text messages! Just go 80's galaga on your friend at 3 a.m.
