Hi Muffet,

If you go to

Settings→ Notifications
Expand Recent Sent
Click Messages
Under General Notification and New Messages, do you have sound and popup for both? Both enable?

Hi Tallman
Thanks so much for your reply. Yes, sound and popup are enabled for both.
Any other suggestions?

Then do the following:

Settings → Apps→ Messages→ Storage
Clear Data and clear cache
Reboot your phone and see if the sound comes back.

If the data is cleared will it delete my texts? If so is there a way to print or save a text conversation before clearing the data?

These are the app cache data. Not your messages data. If you feel uncomfortable to perform this, you can use smart switch to do a full backup before clear data.

You don't have do not disturb mode turn on eh?

Also, is all incoming messages have no sound?

Alright, let's do this:

Get into safe mode and see if the incoming message have sound or not.

To get into safe mode,

Press and hold the Power button and select Power off to turn your device off.

Press and hold the Power button, until you see the animated Samsung logo appear.

Release the Power button, and press and hold the Volume down button.
Keep holding it until your device boots up.

You can let go when you see the words “Safe mode” in the bottom-left corner.

To boot your device back to normal mode again restart your device.
