My Note9 calendar app icon always shows the date as Sept 12, while the iOS  calendar app will actually show the current date. Why doesn't Android do this?

You either have to uninstall the app updates or update them. Restart phone and it should work. I have a Note 9 and it works with mine so I'm going with user error. Learning curve coming from Apple but hey if my 78 year old mom learned anyone can.

If you use a theme or custom icon pack, the icon may not change.
