Galaxy SHi Zeoswj, When initially connecting to 5G networks, we may experience higher power consumption than usual as it processes between LTE and 5G for best network performance. As 5G networks continue to evolve, Samsung is working closely with partners to provide updates to the device for the best 5G user experience.

Galaxy SIn short, yes. Having extra antennas always on is never good for battery runtimes. Plus depending on where you are, your phone will constantly try to get on 5G and fail due to nonexistent (or spotty) coverage. So it's best not to enable 5G for now, as it's also only 5G NSA mode in Canada and the vast majority of the world, aka glorified LTE-Advanced. So spare yourself the efficiency loss and stick with LTE, which is just as good as 5G sub-6GHz NSA.
*NSA means Non Standalone. Not the USA agency. It means the network only has a 5G "edge", and the rest of the network piggybacks on existing LTE
