Galaxy S11 for Canada to be 5G only.

No G980W for us next year. We're getting up to speed with a 5G trio. Firmware development has begun on the SM-G981W (S11e/whatever it will be called), SM-G986W and SM-G988W. Will probably launch simultaneously with whatever 5G hotspots national carriers have in store. These model numbers match the European 5G models (SM-G98xB), while there are also LTE-only European models (SM-G98xF) which do not match the S11 for Canada models. So no upselling you to a 5G model. It's either 2020 flagship with 5G or 2019 without 5G.

Bad news: 5G coverage to be limited to downtown Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver for the next year.

Seriously though, 5G's only real benefit in Canada will be the greater coverage on sub-6GHz. We already have the fastest LTE networks (Bell has actual Gigabit LTE 1.5Gbps and on Rogers I easily reach 300Mbps). Ideally, this will bring greater network capacity but what are the odds we'll get bigger data buckets for cheaper? As many as you can fit the word competition in oligopoly!

i think when 5g comes, companies will have no choice to bring true unlimited data or much higher caps like 15gb and 50gb.

I'm excited as its unlimited now, so say 10gb -50gb 5g speeds then throttle at 4g instead of the crap now!

C'était en blague. Par contre faut pas s'attendre à avoir la 5G à l'extérieur des centres urbains cette année. Repentigny, c'est près de Montréal. Je doute fortement que la 5G arrive en 2020 à Victoriaville par exemple. Ce n'est que mon humble avis, je peux me tromper.
