Things that affect Samsung Galaxy S8 battery life

As I’ve already mentioned, how long the battery will last depends on how you use your phone. If you spend hours playing games or watching videos, you simply can’t expect the battery to last the whole day. It will drain fast. There are many other things that affect the smartphone battery life, such as display settings, performance settings, apps, just to name a few. So, if you need to charge your phone every few hours, it doesn’t mean your phone or its battery is faulty. Change a few settings, and the battery will last longer.

How to fix Samsung Galaxy S8 battery life

Once you try the tips we are going to share below, you will notice the difference. If not, then you should contact the shop in which you purchased the phone and ask for a replacement.

Disable Auto-brightness

The display is known as one of the biggest battery eaters. If the auto-brightness is on, the Samsung Galaxy S8 battery will drain faster. So, what you need to do is set the option to off. Here is how to do that:

  • Go to Settings
  • Next, tap Display
  • Toggle the switch next to the Auto-brightness to turn the option off

Turn the Always-on display off

We can all agree that Always-on display is a handy feature. It allows you to see the time, notifications, and other things at a glance, without the need to turn the screen on. However, when this option is enabled, it will affect Samsung Galaxy S8 battery life. You can turn it off, and here is how:

  • Open the Settings app
  • Tap Lock screen and security
  • Find Always-on display and disable it

Turn off Smart Stay feature

Smart Stay uses the front-facing camera to detect your eyes and face, and it keeps the screen on when you are looking at it. It is a pretty cool feature, but as the front-facing camera is on, the battery drains faster. You can disable Smart Stay feature on your Samsung Galaxy S8, just follow these steps:

  • Navigate to Settings
  • Tap Advanced features
  • Tap Smart Stay
  • Toggle the switch next to Smart Stay to disable it

There are other Advanced features you can turn off, such as Smart Capture, Swipe Capture, etc.

Choose low screen timeout

On Samsung Galaxy S8, screen timeout is set to 15 seconds. When we buy a new smartphone, we often change this setting, and we select 1 minute or even more. But as it has a huge impact on the battery, you should leave it as it is or go with the 30 seconds screen timeout.

Reboot your phone

When you notice the battery is draining fast, it may be a time for a reboot. By rebooting the phone, all the apps and processes that run in the background will close. Reboot is always one of the solutions whenever you are experiencing some issue with your phone. Try it out.

Turn off Wi-Fi, 4G, Bluetooth and GPS when not in use

We always point out that you should disable Wi-Fi, mobile internet, Bluetooth, and GPS when you are not using them. There is no need to keep all these options on, as when turned on, especially all together, they will eat the Samsung Galaxy S8 battery life. You can disable the options you don’t need at the moment by opening the quick settings and tapping on the option you want to turn off.

Use Airplane mode

When you are in the areas with poor reception, or when you are not using your phone, enable the Airplane mode. It will disable the radio, data, etc, and it will certainly make the battery last longer.

Keep the apps up to date

Apps do have a huge impact on the battery, so you need to keep them up to date. Developers update the apps to bring new features, but also to fix some issues the applications may have. Just open Google Play and update all the apps on your phone, or at least the ones you are using on daily basis.

Use Sleep option for the apps

On Samsung Galaxy S8, you can put apps to sleep. This means that when you do so, the app won’t run in the background, thus, it won’t drain your battery and it won’t push notifications. Once you open the app, you will see the updates. In order to put an app to sleep, just tap and hold the icon of the app, and when the menu appears, tap Sleep.

Performance modes

Samsung Galaxy S8 comes with performance modes, meaning you can choose the one that suits you the best. There are Optimized, the one that is recommended, and there are also Game, Entertainment, and High-performance modes. Logically, when you want your battery to last longer, you won’t use High-performance or Game mode. If you like to play Games, you may enable Game mode, but don’t forget to go back to Optimized when you are done with playing.

Enable Power Saver when you need some extra juice

If you are outdoors and need the battery to last a bit longer, you can enable Power saver. You can find it by going to Settings > Battery. There, you can find Mid and Max power saving mode so you can configure it all based on your needs.

Additional tips

In addition to all the solutions we have shared, there are a few other things you may try. Keep in mind widgets consume the battery, as the same goes for vibration. Even those little things can make a difference. You can also use apps such as Greenify that puts misbehaving apps to hibernation when not in use, and DU Battery Saver that comes with many handy features.

Wrapping it up

We have shared several useful tips that may improve Samsung Galaxy S8 battery life. Make sure to try them out. Keep in mind that it all mainly depends on how you use your phone.

First: You really shouldn't plagarize work.... always source the stuff you copy.

Second: if the S8 has battery issues at this point in it's lifetime, it's more likely an issue with the battery itself.  No amount of tweaking in the software will help.

DO NOT OPEN THAT LINK or you will be flooded with ads and might even get pop-up ads on your phone all the time. I repeat, DO NOT OPEN THAT LINK. This person is only trying to make money from S Members with stolen content. Don't reward this shameful behavior.
