Since the S20 series, covid happened and just dropped smartphone sales across the world, but the S series from Samsung has been getting more and more expensive every year. With the launch of the A71 and FE edition,  why didn't Samsung just drop the S20 series and go with the FE, Note series and A71 ?

Hi thebigguy86,
Certainly, we are seeing a real shift in the way smartphones are being used, we are in fact seeing that consumers are relying on them even more for staying connected through video calls, being more efficient when it comes to working from home and for gaming. Samsung offer an expansive portfolio of products to cover different price points from the Galaxy A series and on up, each aimed to cover different consumers.

But instead of wasting money on r& d and then software support in the future, why not just make 1 s series device 1 note and then have the A series lol ?

money really. they are making a bunch of devices at high price points mostly to see what they can sell. then they rachet the price up from there Y.O.Y, until they don't sell well anymore, then start the process over again . look at the galaxy S line? sales numbers dropping Y.O.Y the closer to the $1000 threshold they got. as soon as they hit or when over $1000. sales number sank like a rock. you don't need to be a marketing guru to see why.

$700 is about the sweet spot i think, it's just difficult to give customers the proper value for the price. mostly because of greed and large profits OEMs what. the galaxy S20 FE is a decent attempt. so it shows samsung isn't that oblivious to it. it's mostly marketing and profits that get in the way.

I think it's gone worse since the new guy took over , too many models . That's when the slump in sales started when they started making a normal than a plus and such

ya I think there is some truth to that. some times less is better, because less confusing then.

Hi TBone,

Across our portfolio, Samsung is trying to offer a variety of devices, so consumers have the freedom to choose the Galaxy experience that’s right for them. However, we take it as your feedback.

Samsung had the Note series, S series and A series, that's more than enough to choose from . Stop making so many Note and S series models, just wasting money, not like what the new guy is doing.
