Galaxy SDoes anyone know if it is possible to remove the icon backgrounds? I could have sworn I was able to remove the square around these and several other icons such as Messenger before I formatted my phone. I tried the obvious area of checking the home screen settings in the app drawer.
I have a galaxy S8 on Oreo.

I use Nova Launcher & I believe that it's much more customizable than the stock Samsung Launcher..And yes you can with Nova Launcher & various icon packages 🐧

Works for some apps but not all. Even with icon frames off the Google apps for example still have the frame.

It's not possible since Oreo It was possible on Nougat. This is due to Adaptive Icons.

Go into settings > display > icon frames > select "icons only". That's the best you can do, unless you download a custom launcher.

thanks guys. I don't know how I missed it in there but it is better with that off. I'll have to look in to a custom launcher again. I know I had Nova on a previous phone, but I don't know why I stopped using it.
