big game breaking bug in android pie for s9plus

Hi guys,
I just updated my phoneto the latest android pie release and discovered one really bad bug in the new update.
In dex mode i used to game allot with an bluetooth controller. Now since the update the controller's dpad only works when the phone lcd screen is still on. Once the lcd dims out the dpad is not responding anymore. The only way to make the dpad work is to touch the home buton or touch the screen to light it up.
Basicaly any gaming in dex mode is non functional right now unless you want to touch evry 20 secs the lcd screen to keep it alive.
Any solutions on this ?

cant you go into dev settings and turn on "keep screen on while charging" or whatever?

its only working in screen mirror mode.
in dex mode it goes to sleep whatever the settings
