Whenever I go to device maintenance and optimize storage, it removes photo cache.

As a result, when I go gallery, the photos take a while to load, depending on zoom level.

The load takes a few seconds, but I have thousands of pics and if I want to find a pic I've to go through this frequent load a lot.

But that's the point of wiping cache...

it's a bit extreme, dont u think? something that should be done phone off.

I don't need anything elss but I do need gallery cache (not web cache, file cache etc etc..)

Get Google Photos from the Play Store then. Once it's set up & syncronised, you have both hardware & a cloud copy. I find the cloud copy just matter's what my WiFi signal is like & it has pictures that go back 5 year's

No, it's not a matter of.pics. He's talking about the cache. No matter the Photos app, you'll still have cache...

Thumbnail cache can get huge. Hence cleaning them... But just don't clean it.

I can see how a Cache Whitelist could be used, but again this defeats the point of cleaning cache.
