About phones & photos

This may be a silly question,  but is it possible to take pics from an old phone to a new one. My old iPhone 4 has things like pics. Do I have to snapshot each one ... or can I take from one Gallery into another? They couldn't delete or transfer bc the models weren't compatible.  So my old phone has things I can still get. Any ideas would be appreciated   )

As I said, most were on my laptop, which broke. I want the pics to go to my new phone. does it work same as downloading to a PC or laptop. is it possible

If the pics are on your phone...
Back them up to a cloud storage then re download them, or just view from your new device.

or plug your old phone into a computer and view it as an external drive and copy what you want to the computer then to your new device.
If your computer is messed you hafta do the cloud part or buy/retain/borrow another computer so you can get er done 🤙👍
