How do I get my phone to stop going dark in the middle of a video.Like I will be watching a video and the screen times out and goes dark.

I have this problem too all the time, and there is an option. in setting for face recognition while looking at your phone which is supposed to keep your phone active while watching videos etc.
It does not prove to successfully work for me but it may for you.

Turn on smart stay in gestures and motions menu. Could be browser type you're using too...might have settings in the browser settings menu.

Ok so my boyfriend just figured it out ...you have to change your default player and give it permission to change stuff

So settings...apps...in our case VLC and give that app permission to change settings.

Ah yes VLC its handy but has its quirks.
