Samsung DeX

Just wondering, if in the future Samsung DeX could be adapted into a laptop form like the HP X3 Elite. The only application I use is Word or Google Docs, so if this was possible it could allow me tp get rid of my laptop and desktop.

I honestly can't see that happening as Dex works in conjunction with your phone and monitor. Basically it brings your phone screen apps included of course to a bigger screen so you can use your keyboard and mouse...
If all you use is word or Google docs then yes you don't need your computer just as I said before a monitor and keyboard..

I can see it evolving this way. The current configuration is okay for someone perhaps replacing their old desktop (light office use). However, there is a missed opportunity for the business traveller or those requiring portability. They should make an essentially dumb laptop (screen/keyboard) that is driven by the phone via Dex. I don't want to buy another thousand dollar laptop when my current one kicks out.

This guy made his own dex laptop.. definitely an opportunity for Samsung to push their mobile computing platform.

Motorola did the same thing with their first Atrix device. they had a laptop dock and a multimedia dock as well. I would love to have a laptop dock for my S8+ it would save me from having to bounce from my laptop or my tablet and back and forth. Yes, there are ways to get my documents via the cloud and be able to seamlessly work, but I like the how DeX IS my phone. ONE DEVICE TO RULE THEM ALL!!
