I honestly have never understood why the option for us to check for updates says download updates. I think it would make much more sense for it to say "check for updates", and when an update is available it changes to "download updates now".
The reason why I'm suggesting this is because 99% percent of the time an update is available my S7 never tells me until I go into settings and *check* for an update. I feel the text should reflect what users think when they press that button, which is "I wonder if my phone has any updates available".
