Hi all

I have set up a separate email account for work related emails so I can use notifications. Was working fine and then just stopped. Tried turning notifications off and back on to no avail. Even swapped to using standard Samsung Email app rather than Gmail. Still not working. Anyone got any ideas ?

Hi Darbz, are you sync settings enabled on your device?

You can check this by going into: Settings > Accounts and backup > Manage accounts > toggle on Auto Sync Data at the bottom of the page.  You can also click on your email address and check what specific settings are being synced.

Hi
I checked this out and Auto Sync was turned on. I also checked the specific settings and all appears to be ok. Interesting thing is I have exactly the same setup in Outlook for another different account and that one is working fine.

Hmmm, Here's a couple other steps you could try:

- Check the Background usage limits for Gmail: go into Settings > Battery and device care > Battery > Background usage limits > Never sleeping apps > add Gmail to this.

- Toggle off optimisation for Gmail: go into Settings > Apps > ⋮ > Special access > Optimise battery usage > change filter bar from "Apps not optimised" to "All". Toggle off Gmail. Then, go back into the Gmail app and check that all notifications are turned on.

- Clear cache and data: go into Settings > Apps > Gmail > Storage > tap Clear data and clear cache.

Thanks Tina. I seem to have got the notifications working in Samsung Email so will leave it there for now. Thanks for all your help.

Hi Darbz, are you still receiving emails when you check the app?  If not, I would suggest removing the account and re-adding it to the email app.  I've had this happen to me a few times, but after a server side change (like a password change) the email app does not reflect the change and no emails come through correctly.  Worth a shot.
