So from the time I started using this phone I have had this particular wifi issue and I've narrowed it down a bit. I started with OneUI7 now OneUI8 and the problem remains:
My Internet router is upstairs and I stay downstairs. My Galaxy Tab A9 and other devices see my wifi network with 1-3 bars and usually stay connected.
The A16 5G does not see it..
rarely it'll see it,but only as 1 Bar, so I assume android has something built-in to not auto-connect to a network that is weak. yet,if I tap the network to manually connect,it almost immediately shoots up to 2-3 bars like how my other devices might see the connection,and then it works fine till I leave the phone screen off for a while..then it'll disconnect and the process starts all over.
For me to see the network I have to go into connectivity labs to raise the sensitivity of my phone seeing weaker networks better,that helps in finding it but still not great,and doesn't solve the disconnection issue.
The other way around it is to walk upstairs within a reasonable distance to the router,then it'll 'see' the network and auto-connect.
The thing is however way I connect to the network,from there it acts as intended.
So I can walk all around the house once I'm connected and it's fine. It's just the initial connection and staying connected that's the issue. I've read other users have this issue as well.. I have no phone case and as far as I know this phone was brand new in the box,just started using it a few days ago.
