maybe your charger is damaged or your not using its original charger

Does hour fast charging feature is enabled? When you see pop up on screen as fast charging after plugging in, still enable! However there are some factor that might affect when you're using fast charging and it depends sometime the temperature of your phone, it doesn't guarantee at all time a super fast charging. Typical hours at least 1 and a half hour. Keep monitoring your phone until you compare before and after the update.

As per your concern, If you find your Samsung Galaxy A42 5G no longer fast charging while the fast charging is enabled, either by cable or by wireless charging, the first thing that you want to do is to reboot the system. Some cases of slow charging issues were caused by minor bugs that go away after refreshing the device.
