This image was taken by using a third party app (deepsky camera) using 30 seconds long exposure, the stock camera can only do 15 seconds shutter speed. It is ashame that we enthusiast have to rely on third party apps to achieve longer exposure on A series models like mine (A54 5G). Also imagine if the devs allow unlocking the camera2 api in the next update so that we can have raw format will be a game changer for everyone like me. Overall I like the phone it is great but locking its full potential is a waste, I'm looking forward to the devs to reconsider this issue in the next update.

well nothing will change about camera2api, but you can support the developer and buy the Deep Sky Camera Pro, if you are a true Astronomer

also it's nothing wrong to use 3rd party app depending on user's needs to unlock smartphone's true potential and don't hope any new feature from stock camera, but you can email DSC developer if you need something

I get what you’re saying, and I definitely support developers like the Deep Sky Camera team they’ve done amazing work. My point was more about the limitations manufacturers put in place, like locking the Camera2 API. If they unlocked it, it wouldn’t just benefit one app; it would give all of us more freedom to use the hardware to its full potential, whether through stock features or third-party apps.

Third-party apps are great, and I rely on them, but it feels like a missed opportunity when the hardware is capable of so much more. That’s why I hope the devs reconsider this in the future.
