Hi guys!

I'm posting here because I'm a little bit lost. I got a new software update on my A505F (A505FDDU2ASJ2 - it's the 2nd update for October, the phone was already on Oct. 1st security level before this update) and I installed it right away.

Now the problem is albeit the phone does feel significantly smoother after this update, the charging algorithm is a complete mess (it was already buggy enough after the August update, which claimed it "improved the charging algorithm") and it's even worse after this update, it's now causing weird issues:

- The flashlight doesn't work anymore unless the phone is plugged and charging, what a weird bug! If I try to turn on the flashlight without the charger plugged in, it simply doesn't turn on (Google Assistant can't turn it on either). The camera seems to be able to turn on the LED flash but it's completely bugged out, the flash keeps turning on and off and sometimes even stays on after leaving the camera (phone unplugged from the charger). Photos taken with the flash ON are a white mess.

- The phone keeps throwing error messages telling me to "check the cable connection" when it's plugged in.

- The phone also takes more than 10 seconds to detect the charger (and keeps saying it's charging more than 15 seconds after unplugging the charger).

- The fast charging toggle on the Device Care\Battery Settings simply does not work, the phone will keep using fast charging even if the toggle is set to disabled.

- If I turn off the phone, it keeps showing a battery with an exclamation mark and It's hard to get it to turn on, I have to find the right timing after the battery icon disappears to turn it on.

- The PC does not detect the phone anymore (it still charges it, though).

As you can see, there's something really wrong with that charging algorithm or whatever piece of software that takes care of the charging.

PS: It's the 128 GB storage / 6 GB RAM version of the A505F.
PS2: My friend's A50 exhibits the same behavior after the update while my brother's doesn't.
PS3: A factory reset didn't fix the issue -_-

If you still have warranty, go check to samsung centre service. I had issue like this where my Note 9 camera when I use live focus and zoom 2x and above the phone will produce buzzer sound and camera will be shaking. This happen after the Android 9.0 update. Then, after this one update on September 2019 finally my camera back to normal. What I want to say they will fix it but will take a very long time.

Hi NVDVR,

This is Moderator from Samsung. We have received your feedback on your concern about the issues after the software update.

May we suggest a few troubleshooting steps that you may perform from your end.

1. Force Restart your device.

2. Monitor the device in the safe mode. Safe mode will help you determine that the issue caused at the device is due to the software or hardware issue. To perform Safe Mode on your device:
a. Power off device
b. Power on device
c. Hold down the volume down key as soon as you see the Samsung logo appearing on your screen
d. Keep holding down the volume down key until you see a safe mode phrase appearing on the bottom left corner of your device.
e. Then release the volume down key.
f. Exit Safe Mode. Power off the device - Power on the device just like normal.

3. If the issue does not occur in the safe mode. There is a possibility that the issue that caused at the device is due to the software issue.

Thus, we recommend you to perform a reset setting at the device. No data will be lost when you opt for reset setting.
a. Setting
b. General Management
c. Reset
e. Reset Setting

4. If the issue persists in safe mode, the next step would be the factory reset. Factory Data Reset will remove ALL user data, including downloaded applications, documents, calendar entries, contacts, pictures, and music. Kindly ensure you first back up your phone’s data using Samsung Smart Switch.

After performing a factory reset, please set up the phone and check if the issue persists before you restore the data to your phone.

If the issue persists, there is possibly that the issue is due to a hardware issue. We highly recommend that you bring your device to our service centre for inspection by our technical team, to address your concerns accordingly.

Thank you.
