What happened to the messenger because before it's in the conversation genre in notification panel. 

Now it's in the (Alerting notification) what happened suddenly.

Hey there! Amazing day to you! Your concern may be related to an update from your device and/or from the Messenger app itself. Still, try to observe for anything unusual from the app but as long as it notifies you as it should regarding the messages you receive then I guess there's nothing too much to worry about. 😊
