If my phone is connected to bluetooth, google assistant will only use bt. I do not want it to. I want it coming through my phone speakers. I had this working on my old phone but cannot remember how I did it.

I have not found any help, online, that works.

Anyone have the answer?

Hi gwinegarden,

If your phone is connected to Bluetooth, but you want Google Assistant's responses to come through your phone's speakers instead of the Bluetooth device, please try the following steps to adjust the settings:

Adjust Google Assistant's Output Settings:

  • Open the Google app on your phone.
  • Tap on your profile picture or initial in the top-right corner.
  • Go to Settings > Google Assistant > Devices > Bluetooth & Headphones (or similar settings for Assistant on connected devices).
  • Check for an option like Output Device or Preferred Speaker and set it to Phone Speakers.

Disable Media Audio for Bluetooth (While Keeping Phone Calls):

  • Go to Settings > Connections > Bluetooth.
  • Find the connected Bluetooth device, tap the gear icon or settings button next to it.
  • Toggle off Media Audio but leave Call Audio enabled.
  • This will route Assistant responses and other media sounds through your phone speakers while still using Bluetooth for calls.

Reset Google Assistant Voice Match:

  • Go to Settings > Google Assistant > Voice Match.
  • Disable and re-enable Hey Google, and when setting it up, test if it uses the desired output device.

Thank you.

For the first one, the option does not exist. Only shows my watch.

For the second one I do not want to make calls just listen to music off my phone. You then need to restart the phone.

Found the answer!
Settings / Bonds and vibrations. Turn on separate sound for apps, pick assistant and set to phone.

Just wanted to leave a BIG THANK YOU! "Separate App sound device" setting saved much mental sanity...
