Galaxy AMy desktop PC uses Outlook 2010 and sends E-Mails in html format. Call this my home account.
On my A20, I use Samsung E-Mail for my one (home) account, and GMail for my other account.
If I send an attachment from by PC to my phone, it is received as winmail.dat on my home account on my phone. My phone GMail account receives the proper attachment.
Conventional wisdom on the internet is to send as html, but I am already doing that. Sending as plain text works, but I would I would prefer to have proper formatting.
Any idea on how to fix this ?

Galaxy ATry the following steps:
- Open MS Outlook
- Click on File → Tools →Options
- Click on Mail format tab
- Under compose messages, change the message in this format to HTML or Text
This should resolve your winmail.dat problem.

Galaxy AInteresting.....
I found a suggestion, when composing the E-Mail, to ignore the "autocomplete" of the recipient's address, and to fully type it in. It worked - attachment was received on my phone in original file type.
So I deleted and recreated my contact card, and at least on the first test, the attachment was sent and received on my phone, as proper file type. In some of the newer versions of Outlook, you can specify to "always send to this recipient in this format" . My old Outlook does not appear to have this option, but maybe ......???
Or just chalk it up as another funky Microsoft glitch.

Galaxy AAttempted repeatedly, with no change. I have tested file attachements in emails using multiple computers using Outlook. In all instances, the attached files appear as useless winmail.dat files. What a shame to purchase a $1800 Samsung Fold 2 that is less productive than a mobile phone one tenth the price.
