"The stupa ("stupa" is Sanskrit for heap) is an important form of Buddhist architecture though it predates Buddhism. It is generally considered to be a sepulchral monument-a place of burial or a receptacle for religious objects."
Gathering at stupa on day 3 of Khmer New Year for blessing rituals
Here are some photos I took during my vacation in Vietnam, where the Native Khmer people (Cambodian race) have around over 400 pagodas, each pagoda has many to dozen of stupa surrounded the main temple.
Khmer pagoda is ussually surrounded by stupas, where people burried their relative or put the relic inside.
Before following Buddhism, Cambodian used to worshipped Hinduism
