Galaxy GalleryWooow! That kutsinta brings back memories to when my mother serves it for breakfast on a Saturday & Sunday morning! ๐๐ Thank you for sharing this sumptuous Filipino snack! Here's a little fact as to where the name 'Kutsinta' came from:
According to some people, the name kutsinta is derived from a pre-colonial kitchen tool used in shaping the rice cake. Another theory is that the word comes from the Chinese Hokkien term โKueh Tsin Taoโ, the term kueh meaning โlittle steamed cake or cookie for snackโ. Hokkien is a dialect in Southern Fujian, China where most of our early Chinese ancestors came from. Most merchants and traders in pre-colonial Philippines were from China, so it makes sense that they would introduce โkue tsin taoโ to Filipinos who later renamed it โkutsintaโ and made it their own.
