S_amsungjae here, with a housekeeping post regarding some activity we have seen in other Samsung Members forums.
Recently there have been scammers who are creating accounts and sending people phishing messages via Samsung Members direct messages.
One of the notable messages that Members are receiving is that Samsung has received a complaint about their profile and that Samsung needs to perform an immediate verification of the account. Members are also informed that if they do not complete the account verification, they could be fined $500.00.
To do so, it urges the customer to click on a malicious link.
The current Samsung Members moderators are: s_amsungjae, s_amsungsonny and s_amsungerika.
We only reach out on the app via direct message under these usernames. If a "Moderator" reaches out to you under a different name or a similar name that mimics a moderator name, please do not interact with them, visit the attached links or provide them with any information. Best course of action is to just report the account and ignore the message.
For error reports, our technician will only reach out via the app after you have submitted a ticket and the conversation will only ever be in direct relation to the ticket you submitted.
Tips to help identify phishing messages:
- Spelling and grammatical errors.
- Generic greetings and messages that don't address the user personally.
- Threatening or urgent requests for personal information.
- Suspicious links or attachments.
