I recenty travelled to Austrailia from Pakistan where my carrier was ufone(,prepaid). Surprisingly, eversince my arrival , my ufone sim has no service when on all my previous visits there never was a problem. I contacted ufone and they confirmed that at their end the sim was active. I have tried everything but of no avail. Can anyone suggest a solution for my samsung note20 ultra.

There could be several reasons why your Ufone SIM is not working in Australia:
Network Issues:
* Roaming Restrictions: Your carrier might have imposed roaming restrictions on your account. Contact Ufone customer service to verify if this is the case.
* Carrier Compatibility: There might be a compatibility issue between Ufone's network and the Australian networks. Check if your phone is compatible with Australian carriers.
* Network Congestion: Heavy network traffic in Australia could be causing temporary service disruptions. Try restarting your phone or switching to a different network mode (e.g., 2G, 3G, 4G).
SIM Card Issues:
* SIM Card Damage: The SIM card might have been damaged during your travels. Try cleaning the SIM card contacts or using a backup SIM card.
* SIM Card Activation: Ensure that your SIM card is activated for international roaming. Contact Ufone customer service to verify this.
Device-Specific Issues:
* Network Settings: Check your phone's network settings and ensure that roaming is enabled.
* Software Issues: Try updating your phone's software to the latest version.
* Hardware Issues: If none of the above solutions work, there might be a hardware issue with your phone. Consider taking it to a service center for inspection.
Additional Tips:
* Contact Australian Carrier: If you have a local Australian SIM card, try using it to test your phone's network connectivity.
* Check Network Coverage Maps: Use online tools to check network coverage maps for Australian carriers in your location.
* Temporary SIM Card: Consider purchasing a temporary prepaid SIM card from an Australian carrier to use while you're there.
If you've tried all of these solutions and your Ufone SIM still doesn't work, it's best to contact Ufone customer support.

Your connection to a local network depends upon what is called an Access Point Name. Using Telstra as an example, Telstra uses one APN for Telstra customers, another for resellers like Aldi and some other for recognising overseas visitors' companies it has an agreement with. So, chasing up whether your home company has an agreement is one option, checking up whether your home APN settings are correct is another (introduction of 5G has led some companies to have two APNs, one a legacy one, another to cope with 5G). Thus you could have an APN setting that continues to allow access at home but is not recognised by the Australian provider. So double check your home APN settings and pursue whether they have an agreement with the Australian company.
I don't know whether you have dual sim. If so you might be better off using an alternative sim and phone number.
If you have a single sim phone look at (Google) usim.me noting that you can switch between numbers but not have both on at the same time. This depends upon ufone supporting esim.
If ufone supports wifi calling then check if overseas access for this (in Australia Telstra does, Optus doesn't so Telstra travellers overseas can use it). If available turn off mobile data and log in to a wifi network. It is limited to phone calls and texts but you can make or receive calls under your normal phone plan.

P.S. Googling "ufone apn settings" may show if more than one apn settings exist. If plaing with apn settings ALWAYS write current settings down 100% correctly, spaces, caps, etc. in casenyou wantnyo revert.
