Hi, the 5G antenna in your Note 20 Ultra is only supporting 5G Non-standalone network. Any network service provider that is still on or still supports 5G NSA, u can still use 5G on ur device. However, for Singapore telco, as far as I know, all major telcos have alr upgraded to 5G Standalone network (using 5G infrastructure), so previously devices that support only 5G NSA can no longer be connected to 5G network.
Technically, 5G NSA is not 5G, as it's using 4G infrastructure. So, it's the marketing that misleads the consumers into thinking 5G NSA is also 5G. 5G SA is the true 5G that relies only on 5G satellite (both data and voice).
May I know which model is ur friend using? If it's 2021 model onwards, then most likely most phones are equipped with true 5G antenna.
