yes, black tip will drag more than white counterpart.

just to clarify,

black nib/tip is softer and material is rubber.

white tip/nib is plastic, or feels like plastic, making it more solid.    This makes slippery more common.

I'm thinking I may go for a note next time around. I would like to have a note at least once. but my big hesitation is the actual physical size of the device.

I used to feel the same way but once you get used to it, it's hard going back to a smaller phone. I don't even know why i have a Note, i hardly ever use the pen.
