One UI 4 (Android 12) Update Issues

My wife and I have been having this issue reoccur where the Over the Horizon ringtone will play at random. I've tried various things with our phones, but nothing has worked thus far. In a way, I regret updating to One UI 4 cause this ringtone issue is crippling. The only way I've been able to stop it is by powering off the phones, starting them in the boot menu, clearing the cache, then restarting the phones.

I also noticed a significant reduction in performance of my wife's S20 FE. Glitching, screen lag, and apps freezing have been a constant problem for her.

If I find a solution, I'll post a comment here. Anyone else experiencing this issue?

I love Samsung's products, I've used them for years, but this UI launch was awful. (That's just my opinion. I'm sure there are many who have had good experiences. 🙂)

Do you mean you chose a specific ringtone, but the Over the Horizon ringtone still play randomly?

Yes. I have a custom ringtone in use, but the Over the Horizon ringtone will start playing at random times.

Go to Settings > Notifications after you hear the "over the horizon ringtone". I'm thinking that it's likely to an Android system Notification, that has the ringtone.

You should be able to Turn it Off, by going to Settings > Notifications & look for Android System. Click on it & then you can change the Type of Notifications from   "Allow Sound & Vibration" to "Deliver Quietly", then you won't hear the Notification.

You could also use Good Lock's NotiStar to check if something else is causing the Notification.

Well once you see Android System as a recent Notification, you could either turn Android System Notifications off completely (which I would NOT recommend), but you can also look down to see Notification Categories. Here you have to option to Toggle Off specific Android System Notifications.

I set it to deliver quietly. I generally don't care about the system notifications anyway.

Well, hopefully the random "over the horizon" notifications will have stopped 🤞

I do have your problem before. My custom ringtone switch back to Over the Horizon too. But I just keep choosing my custom rigntone and back to settings again, check the ringtone until it doesn't change. Then the ringtone works fine now.

I did not do anything special. So not sure how it got fixed. But I can recommend try clear Phone app data and cache.

Settings → Apps → Storage
Clear data & clear cache

If you have preference for your phone app, you need to set again, like ringtone , spam call settings or show your caller lD...etc. All preference will set to default. Try if this help.

Unless I completely misunderstood, I don't think that they are talking about the ringtone for incoming calls.

I think that it's other Notifications, that don't appear to be for something they necessarily want to get, ie: some Android System Notifications?
