I've been trying to figure this out with a note 10 plus for the past two weeks of owning this phone.
Now I've lost my old phone I have no way of casting to the Chromecast.
Sometimes I can randomly restart my phone half a dozen times and my Chromecast will finally pop up.
The odd part is my Roku works fine but not my Chromecast and there's a few other people on the Samsung forms with the same issue.

Does anybody have any suggestions I'm at a loss I got a new phone I got more problems

Make sure youre connected on the same network as the chromecast. Get the Google Home app if you dont and look for the chromecast device. I've never had any problems. Reset your chromecast if you have to honestly.

hope it helps , you have to use Google home and ADD your Chromecast. If you have already connected your Chromecast it should update automatically but if you have to start over, use Gogle Home and you can restart the device or update it . Following video show how to cast :

I had a similar issue on Note 10+ where it connects but the video freezes. I changed the note 10+ screen resolution to WQHD+ (3040 x 1440) and it worked like a Sharm.

I can see that helping if I was trying to mirror but I am trying to cast off Netflix or YouTube but the note 10 just doesn't see the Chromecast most of time sometimes if I put my phone down for an hour when they're both on Wi-Fi it will work it's really random

OP states he is already on the same WiFi, and also states he can see his Chromecast device in Google Home. Even then, you won't be able to do anything with chromecast unless you grant Google Play Services access to your microphone (!). The minimum I have had to allow to be able to get it to work on my Galaxy S9 is : Microphone, Location, Telephone. Remove any one of these rights and your Chromecast becomes useless.

We use Android (S9), iOS and Windows devices in our household. I have both a Chromecast and Roku but I've ditched the Chromecast because Google is way too intrusive about my private info. Not that it doesn't already have enough personal info on me via its gazillion Android/Google/Youtube/Maps/etc hooks in my devices but I feel I need to draw the line somewhere. Furthermore, Roku is MUCH friendlier to use for non techie members of the household on their devices (mix of Android and iOS).

Once you have modified google play services rights, you may need to close all apps and restart for everything to get going.

One last note, you need to be on a non- isolated WiFi. Guest networks, where a user only has access to the internet, WON'T work. Yes, that means Google will have your WiFi password AND have access to ALL your networked devices in your home on that network. Roku, on the other hand works fine on my Guest WiFi.
