Samsung spent alot of effort to marketing AR features, but they removed ToF camera and replaced with laser AF sensor just to fixed slow auto focus issue in Galaxy S20 Ultra.
I have no idea why they removed ToF after introduced since Galaxy Note10+ (less than 2 years) while others company like Apple and Huawei still using ToF and LiDar in their new phone.
Yes, "may be" the live focus or background blur can be achieved via software algorithm. But ToF camera can serve for other purpose like 3D scanning, AR Measurements. There must be advantages for using ToF, I hope Samsung can bring it back in next generation Galaxy S or Note series

This is my personal opinion. 😉

yes. me too, i have been in mobile photography professionally..
basically i just experienced that in my new S21 ultra, the bokeh is just a crap. my Note10plus did much much better job almost falwless bokeh elements, dslr-like bokeh, while s21 ultra produced fake bokeh, omitting natural edge rendering.. 😭😭😭😭 i am gonna spill my tears over my late Note10plus..

The Note 10 plus also use fake bokeh lol, its just that the TOF sensor captures better live focusing info than the Laser AF.
The laser AF is used for 108mp sensor for only basic focusing and the TOF is used for 12mp and 16mp sensors for next level focusing shots

i understand, but reality is that the focus bokeh photos produced by S21 ultra is disappointing than Note10plus, side by side detailed comparison. as for now i have to use big sony A7 to capture something for my urgent photowork😭
