All of sudden Vertical Green Line on Screen

I have been using Samsung Brand phone since day one because as we all know Samsung produce robust and reliable phone. The last phone I use is Samsung Note 8 which I used for 4 good years without any problem. After Samsung Note 8, my wife gift me Samsung S20 plus as my anniversary present on 26/5/2022 at retail price of RM4999.00 and this is a very difficult purchase as we are not from a wealthy family and she still choose Samsung as the trusted brand.

On 2 April 2022, when i turn ON my phone, all of sudden there is a vertical green line appear on my phone screen from top to bottom. I have contacted the Samsung hotline for this issue and they advise to soft reset my mobile and if still happen he ask to put the phone in safe mode. None of the above steps works. I when Samsung service center at Sunway Carnival, Penang and after inspection the technician said need to change the phone LCD which will cost RM950 since my warranty already ended. It''s very heart breaking to know about this since i just use this phone for one and half years.

I have been taking really good care of the phone and the phone is totally an accident, fall and scratch free as you can see in the pictures attached. I also to spend Rm120 just to wrap the phone front and back to protect the phone.

I search through online and saw many Samsung phone users experience this issue and I believe Samusng also acknowledge this problem. I send above message to Samsung CEO office but their reply is unreasonable saying that the phone already over the warranty and they can not do anything about it. 

This is really disappointed and I already band me and my family from using Samsung Phone. Hope all the other users bewafe of Samsung quality and think first before you purchase Samsung phone as there is alot of brand that offer better phone and after sale service.

You try press *#0*# , and then select Red Green Blue, repeat the cycle few times. tell me if it worked or not.

Same here. Just updated my S20+ to One UI 4.1, and this happens.

If you phone still under warranty. You can claim it they will replace the LCD screen for you

Not sure which country are you from.

I am from Malaysia and faced the same issue, was playing game one evening, and suddenly green line appeared, and over the time each day appear 1 extra line. Sadly the warranty period has lapsed.

Went to a nearby service centre, was informed that the cost of it minimum MYR1000 (~USD233), whereby the cost of the phone was MYR4000 (~USD932). When questioned what was the issue, the service person just mentioned that either i have dropped my phone and damaged the hardware or i have been putting tremendous amount of pressure on the screen. I do admit that i drop my phone, low height or often landing on soft surfaces, but the line did not occur once i drop the phone.

When i reached out to their customer service- not helpful at all, i then reached out to UK's CEO office via a form on UK's Samsung contact us page, finally someone gave me a call and offered me discount on my next phone purchase, but due to warranty expired, they will not be able to cover the fees or waive partially for the fix. Claiming that the article i read was due to a software issue. Of course he did not "accuse me" of anything since the call is recorded, but one can tell they are indirectly saying its my fault, whereby i admit, but not fully my fault.

I have been doing my research reading enough forums and tech news portal - the information provided back then (i think dated around Sept-Nov 2021) the issue can be resolved by updating the software or factory reset, but still some people didnt know their rights and paid for the repair whereby it is a known issue for S20+ to have this green line issue (S20 Ultra to have the whole white or green tint).

Currently i am collecting data and reading up enough forums and tech news portal to file a complaint to consumer tribunal (some countries have Ombudsman to do so).

After the call, literally went to an Apple shop and got myself an iPhone. I've totally lost trust on Samsung and their after sales service. Not trying to flex, but just show how frustrated i am and so done with their lousy services.

P/S im not some one that is so tech savvy or knows the technicality, hence all i can rely on are forums and news portal.

Yes im from Malaysia. Exactly same thing happing to me and Samsung Malaysia trying to wash their hand to this issue. This is not something new tho since you can in the internet the cause of green line because of software failure. I have no idea where the other channel we can convey so that Samsung is held responsible to this issue.
