Since I've upgraded my phone from the S5 to the S7 earlier this year, I've come to hate the autocorrect. It will change words that are words in the dictionary to other completely different words. And when I do incorrectly spell something, it leaves it alone and doesn't change it. It will even change a 10 letter word to a 2 letter word. I mean why would the software think I misspelled something that has 10 letters for a 2 letter word. I'm really irritated and fed up with the new autocorrect. I want my old S5 back.

Same thing with me when I went from the Nite 5 to the S8+. It was annoying enough that I switched back to Google keyboard.

what happens when you tap the word to select the one you wrote instead of the autocorrect suggestion?

if it has the underline I can change it back, yes. But sometimes it doesn't let me. regardless, I never had these issues on my S5. why did they change the software?

keyboards are always updated to include fixes or "improvements"

they learn your frequently used words and eventually will get it right...I'm using Swype, have been since my galaxy s2, and the accuracy gets better over time. mind you,I don't type,I swipe across the words

oh I'm aware, but I've had it for several months. it didn't take this long for my last phone to learn my habits.

I've been a long term samsung user. I've had various galaxy phones from s3 to s7 (my current phone) I have found that my auto correct was wonderful until they updated the software to 7.0, previously my auto correct learned my habits and learned how I usually mistyped certain words. Now my auto correct refuses to learn the correct words and will actually learn my mistyped words as if they are real words and will actually replace the correct word with typos. I constantly delete the typos from my dictionary but after typing it in once, it will remember it again and the cycle begins again. I did also forget to mention that when I did the update to 7.0 it deleted my old dictionary and I had to start fresh. Very frustrated, I'm probably just going to download a different keyboard for my device and stop using the Samsung one all together since the issue is only getting worse over time.

I totally agree on the poor performance of the predictive typing using the Samsung keyboard. On my BlackBerry KeyOne predictive typing is far superior and noticeably learns. I'm extremely disappointed with the Samsung keyboard, and since the Samsung physical keyboard accessory requires only the Samsung Keyboard be set as default, I'm seriously considering disabling predictive typing.

My auto correct is so stupid that it puts complete gibberish in place of actual words, which were already spelt correctly! I'd like to know who the moron is that did the dictionary, it doesn't even learn - as my past phones usually did. I have the A5(2017).
