Hi,

I am having issues with my back button not working as it should. Sometimes when I press the back button it completely closes the app instead of taking me to the previously viewed page. This happens in multiple apps e.g. internet browser and even the settings.
Sometimes I am able to re-open the app from the Recents screen and then press back which takes me to the previous screen as it should have the first time. Other times this does not work at all and I have to click the back button at the top of the screen or from from drop down menu in the browser.
This is highly frustrating!

Anyone have a solution.

Thanks.

Hi @m1tchem, that's strange. Is your device and app software up-to-date?

To check device software:

Settings > Software update > Download and install

To check app software:

Tap and hold app icon > App info > App details in store > Update if available.

Reset settings

Settings > General management > Reset settings

If the issue persists after trying these steps, I suggest sending an error report via the Samsung Members app for this to be investigated. Error reports are sent to our team to identify any deviations in your device performance, once analysed, our team will get back to you with a response to advise further.

To send an error report:

Samsung Members > Get help > Error reports > select issue category > describe issue and frequency > Tick ‘send system log data’ > Send in top right.

I've actually noticed this happen to me as well lately. The most common scenario is when I'm using Google Chrome and going through the news on its home page. After reading a news article, I press back and the app exits. When I reopen the app, it did go back, so its as if it does both, back AND exit.

Exactly what's happening to me. It can be quite annoying. The trick where you re-open the app and press back again works for me most of the time but sometimes it's really stubborn and I would have to use the drop down from the webpage and press back from there!

Same problem here with a Samsung Galaxy S21 FE. Any suggestions how to fix this?
