Galaxy SCould always start with just wiping cache & data for the camera.
Settings > Camera > Storage & wipe cache & data there. No Boot into recovery required, but if there's still issues with the camera > Go to the Samsung members app & Click on "get help" > Interactive test & test the camera. See what the results are.

Galaxy SHi ladBoom, I suggest you please try to wipe the cache partition of your device and check if the issue got resolved. To wipe the cache partition follow the below steps:
- Turn off the device.
- Press and hold the "Volume Up" key and the "Power" key.
- When the Android logo displays, release both keys.
- Press the "Volume down" key several times to highlight "Wipe cache partition" after the Android Recovery menu options appear.
- Press the "Power" key to select.
- When the process is complete, "Reboot system now" is highlighted.
- Press the "Power" key to restart the device.

Galaxy SWell if the objective was to improve the camera, and you're saying that has been accomplished, sounds like the problem has been solved.
When you say the phone "heats up slightly", is it all the time, or just when using the Camera? If it's just when using the Camera, that's normal as your phone is processing more information & using more resources.
