Factory reset issue

I cannot connect my factory reset S22ultra to Smart Switch to download backups. The process to confirm my ID requires me to sign in and request a code to my mobile which I cannot access. The Google id verification process option also ends with it sending a code to the mobile which I am locked out of.

Smart Switch required downloading a Microsoft version that would not allow a cable download at all. Using WiFi to do this snared me back into the id verification circus.

I had no issues using previous versions of Smart Switch with cable to backups on my PC.

My mobile required a factory reset as the pin stopped unlocking it.

1. Restore S22 Ultra with Smart Switch (Wired)

Download Smart Switch (PC version)
* Go to: https://www.samsung.com/au/apps/smart-switch/
* Click “Get Smart Switch for PC” (do not use Microsoft Store version)
* Install it on your PC

Connect Your S22 Ultra via USB (original cable, or one with data lines)
* Open Smart Switch on PC
* Wait for device detection

2. Bypass 2FA Loop (Samsung / Google Verification)

Insert SIM into Another Phone
* Receive the 2FA code there

Complete Verification on S22 Ultra
* Enter the code received on the other phone
* Attempt account login

3. If You Can’t Receive SMS

Via Samsung Account Recovery on PC
* Go to: https://account.samsung.com
* Try “Use backup code” or “Try another way”

Via Google Account Recovery on PC
* Go to: https://accounts.google.com/signin/recovery
* Select “Try another way” to verify without SMS

If you have a backup email/device with Samsung / Google logged in, use that

4. If Still Locked

Engage Samsung Support (AU)
* https://www.samsung.com/au/support/contact/
* Or pop into your nearest Samsung service centre
* Provide proof of ownership to request FRP (Factory Reset Protection) unlock or assistance
