Galaxy S
Issue Overview:
I have owned my S22U for a while now when i started experiencing intermittent vertical lines (green or pink) appearing on my screen last June 19, 2025. These lines are not visible in screenshots and disappear after turning the screen off and on, or doing a full power cycle. They appear randomly — whether the phone is charging, idle, or even under normal conditions. Heat, brightness, or physical pressure (tight case) do not seem to consistently trigger them.
Firmware History & Updates:
Firmware was updated multiple times following Samsung’s general recommendation to always keep the device on the latest version to fix display anomalies and enhance system stability.
Prior to June 19: Older firmware (FVE or FVF series). June 19 issue occurred while on older firmware. Updated through: FVG6 → FVJ2 → FVJ4 → FZF1 and monitored each firmware for changes in frequency/severity of the line issue.
Fixes & Actions Taken:
Power cycling the screen always removes the line. Full power-off/on also works. Battery Protect enabled (charging capped at 85%) Charging limited to PC or cool, safe adapters. Screen brightness generally kept below 50%. Tried enabling “Disable HW overlays” — green line appeared right after but disappeared upon power cycling. Removed tight case to eliminate physical pressure — no effect.
My Assessment:
I think the issue is most likely related to the phone’s display rendering software or display driver behavior. Looks like it is not hardware-related since it is resolved with screen refresh. No correlation also with impact, pressure, or overheating. The problem has occurred across several firmware versions but seems less frequent on the latest (FZF1) so it's not really on the fw version. It is still not completely resolved as of this writing.
My Recommendations so far:
For sofrware related issue like mine:
Continue monitoring for upcoming firmware releases (e.g., FZF2 or later) to hopefully address this issue. Keep Battery Protect and safe charging habits in place. Avoid unnecessary changes in Developer Options. Use screen or device power cycle as immediate response. Maintain a log for possible warranty or service center case.
For hardware related issue: seems like no other way but screen replacement.
Stay alert and hope for official Samsung PH announcements about screen-related support programs or recalls.
Or we can all pressure Samsung to finally address the issue.

Got my S24 repaired twice and waiting to be retrieved on the 3rd time!
Flickering occured because of their UI7 update but disputing the claims 🤦🏾
Cost me 7.2k for the LCD.
