Alright, here’s the scoop:

Back in 2021, I first dove into the Samsung community when I acquired a Galaxy S21/S21 Ultra through a trade-in program from Samsung Philippines. I honestly loved the community and barely encountered any toxicity or negativity. Over time, I found myself switching from one device to another due to creating content on YouTube, and it was becoming exhausting.

Starting in 2023, I decided to go on hiatus as I was pretty burned out from work, creating content, and everything in between. Just my two cents on creating content: it’s fun, but also time-consuming, especially when trying to come up with ideas for every single social media platform you’re active on. It’s no joke.

In the third quarter of 2023, I decided to get my hands on the Galaxy S23 Ultra, which turned out to be a bit of a love-hate relationship. As an Ultra device, the camera was great, excellent zoom, random picture-taking, and video recording. However, the curved display was a challenge, and I was never really into big phones. Due to a bit of a financial crisis, I had to let it go.

Over the course of 2023 to the present, I’ve been switching between different brands, trying to find something that meets my needs. Sadly, there aren’t many compact devices nowadays that are powerful enough, aside from that overpriced smartphone with a fruit logo.

I decided to check out Samsung’s website again and went through the trade-in/trade-up promo. This time, I opted for the base model S24, mainly because of the following reasons:

  • Flagship specifications
  • 256 GB of storage (I’m used to having 128 GB, as I utilize cloud storage, but having double the onboard storage is a nice bonus)
  • Compact form factor

Although I don’t have it yet, it’s still in the “Awaiting Dispatch” state as of my last check. I AM VERY Excited for it to arrive!😀

For those wondering what I traded in, I exchanged a smartphone with the number “15” and a fruit logo with a “Plus.” Most of the people I work with and my friends have said it’s a downgrade.

Here’s my take on the term “downgrade”:

  • It’s only a downgrade if you’re comparing it to something of higher value.
  • It’s only a downgrade if you’re moving from a higher model to a mid-range device.

Personally, I don’t see this as a downgrade; I see it as an OPPORTUNITY. It removes me from that ecosystem and gives me the freedom to do what I want, how I want.

So again, I'm glad I'm back in Samsung Territory and I honestly can't wait to share my journey once more (as I can't recall my old account anymore 🤣) and connect with fellow Samsung Fam Community Members!

My last Samsung was waaaaay back from the Note 2 days, I think it was 2012. I've held it for 3 years before venturing out to other brands. I've come back here only last year. Funny how my Samsung account survived all these years lol.

I agree with you, @christansengco about the "downgrade" idea, it's really about finding what fits your needs best. The Galaxy S24 seems like a great choice, especially with its compact size and solid specs. Can't wait to hear about your experiences with it, looking forward to seeing how your journey unfolds! 😍

Welcome back to the community! It's like you never left 🤗

The Galaxy S24 also hosts a ton of improvements over the S23 series, and you're right - it's only a downgrade if you think it is!

Trade-in from S23 Plus to Flip 6
Is it downgrade or upgrade?
Galaxy S

I was actually considering the Flip 6 too, however, as compact as it is (when in a folded state), when I got into the store to test it out, I found the display a bit weird (just for me).

Weird in a sense that the height is too high, so more hand gymnastics when reaching the top port of the display.

It is a beautiful device though don't get me wrong, I just found it a bit difficult to utilize one handed.
