For better or for worse, I'm using the Google messages app on my Samsung s23. I currently receive notifications when some people text me, but not when others text me. I have checked the settings, notifications, for this app and all are turned on. Any ideas how I can receive a notification for any and all texts I received?

Check notifications if silent per person. Also is this affected only in chat rooms?

Also check sleep alarm times or other DND settings if it affects alerts.

Hi Gspart,

As adviced by Day_Walker, please check If Notifications are Set to Silent for Specific Contacts:

Open Google Messages. Go to the conversation of a contact whose notifications are missing. Tap the three-dot menu (top right) > Details. Make sure the Notifications option is not set to "Silent" (or similar settings).

Check for Do Not Disturb (DND) Conflicts: Open Settings > Notifications > Do Not Disturb. Review schedules (like sleep alarms or work focus modes) to see if they might suppress notifications. Make sure specific contacts are not being silenced as part of DND rules.

Under Do Not Disturb, ensure the affected contacts are set as "Priority Conversations" if such an option exists.

Thank you.
