Hello
I'm hoping to find a good app for using Google Assistant or Bixby to translate voice to text while in the car or taking a walk. I'd like to dictate daily journal entries and add to them. Another use would be to capture all of the brilliant (or not so brilliant, typically) ideas that pop into my head during those times. I've been using Google Keep, which works but often splits my spoken sentences into multiple bullets in a list.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Hi DarrellM,

For your use case of dictating journal entries or capturing ideas while walking or driving, both Google Assistant and Bixby can work for voice-to-text, but they might have some limitations when it comes to formatting your input the way you want.

Since you've mentioned using Google Keep already, it’s worth noting that you can tweak its settings to work a bit better for long sentences:

  • Avoiding multiple bullets: Try saying something like “New line” or “Next paragraph” at the end of each thought. It helps break up the sentences in a way that Google Keep won’t treat them as separate items.
  • You can dictate longer texts without worrying about breaking them into bullet points manually. After dictating, you can easily format the text in the Keep app to make it more like a journal.

Tip: In Google Keep, you can also use voice typing directly with the Google Keyboard (Gboard), which might prevent splitting issues, and Gboard recognizes dictation more fluidly.

Thank you.
