I opened my notes application and dicsovered I cannot view any of them unless I convert them or install an add-on - which my phone doesn't allow due to security and data risks. So I tried converting them but saw that half of 562 of my notes are completely missing, some of which open and others that say "Can't open note. File corrupted." The sync overrides and I can't even find the backup for any of the notes - 'old' or converted. I have two years worth of writing, sensitive information and recordings that I seem to not have access to. I'm honestly heartbroken. Is there going to be an update or bug fix? Because there's still a section for "Old Format Notes." I really would like to know if there is anyone who has figured out a solution or how Samsung will be assisting us because I was not expecting to lose my work due to an application update which claimed to 'convert' the format without need for warning.

Hi asaia_madjar1, It is safe to install the add-on. The new update features the option to convert the notes to pdf. As PDF was not a proprietary format controlled by Samsung, you need to install the add on from the sources to make the conversion possible. I suggest you please install and enjoy the new update.

Hi asaia_madjar1,

When asking for install Add-on, click Install. But will prompt that install blocked due to security. Click Settings on the Prompt, you will see Samsung Notes, tap the button on the right size to allow install. Then Add-on will install and you can open your notes again.

Hi Asaia

Always back-up your device  to protect your work

The Samsung Notes Addons is from Samsung and safe to use.

You can find the reference to Samsung being the origin in Apps -> Samsung Notes Addons -> Gear icon -> About Samsung Notes -> Open source licenses.

Package Installer is the Android service responsible for installing new apps, updating the apps and uninstalling the apps.

The update completely destroyed my notes!!!  I structured my notes by categories such as Health, Work, Bills, Recipes, Travel etc.

I was able to see the list of categories on the left and click to open. For instance under Travel I had 6 notes with info on that trip! Now on the left it just lists every single note like they are vomited in a list...  200 unorganized notes.

Before I had 12 categories and multiple notes in each.  Very discouraging when someone writing code comes up with what they think is a good idea when it is not!!!

Hi @dianelyonsgig

Don't you saved all your notes as we suggest to everybody  ? Are they destroyed or they are not in categories anymore ?

I say this at the beginning of my answer :

Always back-up your device  to protect your work

Hi dianelyonsgig, they now using folders instead of categories. Also, you may have to implement #tag for notes so that you can find them faster and easier. Hope this help.
