Within Samsung's Messages app I'm suddenly getting a new dismissable message above the list of conversations with options being "Not now" and "Upgrade" which says "Upgrade to Google Messages to enhance chats with custom themes and Screen Effects." Is Samsung ceasing development of their own Messages app and encouraging users to switch to Google's? What's going on? I've been using Samsung's Messages app for years and it has always worked fine.

Samsung's Moderators have been recommending that people switch to Google Messages for a while now.

I've always used Google Messages, and I believe that Samsung is recommending Google Messages, is for some upcoming changes to RCS?

RCS is a protocol.
The only changes is these stupid emoji junk that Samsung feels unnecessary to update their app with or Google is heavy handedly pushing Samsung to rid of theie app and thus get deals for ai features as first dibs for product launches. 2yrs straight now and after the S24 release with 1st Galaxy Ai, that's when the Flip 6 n Fold 6 did not ship in the USA with Samsung Messages pre-installed.

Not all of us live off of emoji's or are teenage females. Most of us are grown adults that still efficiently express emotions using words. And prefer to do so!

Hi Geoff,

Google Messages is currently the primary app supporting RCS with its full suite of reactions, replies, typing indicators, and read receipts.

For a consistent experience, we recommend you to please switch to Google messages instead of preloaded Samsung Messages App.

Download from Google Play store > Google Messages and set as default. Google Messages ensures a smarter experience through AI suggestions and automatic organization.

Thank you.

I tried Google messages and I HATED IT! It's the worst!

I uninstalled it and returned to the Samsung Messages app--it's simple, convenient and non-intrusive.

But I am still getting those annoying "Upgrade to Google Messages to enhance chats with custom themes and Screen Effects" messages DAILY! Please stop doing this or offer a "Not ever" choice along with "Not now" and "Upgrade."

I bought a Samsung phone, not a Google phone!

Samsung's Keybaord and Samsung Messages on Samsung devices fully support Samsung Galaxy Ai!

Not 1 single feature of Galaxy Ai requires subplanting of Samsung Messages!

Samsung Messages is still being updated. It's an app that makes the Samsung Galaxy Experience seamless, enjoyable, and powerful. If Samsung Messsges was gone tomorrow I'd use a 3rd party apps and just use SMS old school or WhatsApp avoiding Google Messages!

Image a very detailed and specific post from the very beginnings partnership of Google and Samsung Messages - each beginning from Samsung's work!

Im VERY annoyed with this!
I can't even debate against this like i had last year and earlier this year!

It's like Samsung doednt even WANT to compete in the smartphone space any longer, especially with top end chinese phones going global within less than 2 months. It's like Samsung conceding defeat!

Push for Google Messages,
Giving up on Samsung Dex!!??
What the hell is next?!

Now, every AndroidOS comoetitor their UI prefending to be iOS!!? And NONE of the reviews EVER talk about nor show the software that each comes with - instead, it's just about finger blasting t hr *** screen to show off "smooothness"

The phone isn't some female anatomy that needs to be pet and stroked to be pleased. It's a smartphone tool, yet NOBODY of YT influence seems to understand this!!!

Am I the only one that have missing messages when trying to switch to Google messages? It seems that some messages are incompatibles. Any solution?
