does anyone know if older galaxy devices (s7 and older) will in the future have project treble?

Nothing has been confirmed yet. And Treble support is doable even for the S7, and even the S6 (which is even more likely thanks to the Exynos 7420 that is standard across all variants)

the UK Oreo beta team confirm that the s8 won't be getting project treble. if s8 is not getting it why would s7 and older device get it?

With the S9 getting it I don't know why they don't just put it for the S8 as well 😔

I'm pretty sure the s9 has to get it as any device that ships with android 8 has to have treble support. as for the s8 I've heard it a not included, but hopefully that eventually changes

see what kinda gets me if it's just software changes why would it be so difficult for older devices to adopt. wouldn't it be possible just to make a update for the necessary changes, because in the end every one will win. android as it's own O.S will become faster with updates. also the manufacturer of the device win's as well because it will take much less resources to make up dates and more importantly the customer benefits as well getting much faster updates.

it would be better, but then maybe Samsung thinks less will upgrade to newer devices if their devices are still getting upgrades. it would be beneficial though

Could it be possible that samsung may not want to allow it for their older devices because it would be impossible to guarantee the quality of the way an update would perform on older devices. Sure they could tell people to update at your risk but when people take the chance and things don't work well they're going to say it's samsungs fault.
