Galaxy SI have Samsung S22 Ultra, which I have always handled with utmost care. The device has never been mishandled, nor has it been exposed to any physical damage. However, shortly after updating the software as recommended, I noticed the appearance of white line at the top of the screen near the camera. This issue only began following the software update, leading me to believe it is directly related to the update provided by Samsung Electronics Philippines Corp. Tried to contact Samsung's customer service and went to their authorized service center to report this problem and seek a resolution. To my dismay, I was informed that the repair costs would amount to over PHP 11,000, which covers the parts that need replacing and labor fees. Given that the damage appears to be a result of the software update, I find it unreasonable that I should bear the cost of these repairs. I also found that this is not an isolated case. There are multiple consumers who have reported experiencing the same issue after a software update. What intrigues me is that Samsung, in other countries like India, has offered to replace the screen even if the device is already outside the warranty period. However, here in the Philippines, they refuse to provide the same level of service. This constitutes a violation of the Consumer Act of the Philippines, as the manufacturer is responsible for ensuring their products meet quality standards and are free from defects not caused by the consumer. It is unjust for Samsung Electronics Philippines Corp. to refuse to address this issue without charging me, especially when the damage happened after I installed their software update.
