I received my S24 Ultra today and immediately noticed a significant difference in the display quality compared to my previous S20. The colors appear washed out and lack the vibrancy and richness that I am accustomed to. I have attempted various display settings, including enabling WQHD+ resolution, activating adaptive tone, and adjusting the screen mode to vivid with maximum warmth, but none of these adjustments have resolved the issue. Additionally, I have tried replicating the exact display settings from my S20, but this has also failed to produce any improvement.

I am concerned that this display issue may be a widespread problem affecting other users of the S24 Ultra. If the situation does not improve within the next week, I will unfortunately have to consider returning the device due to the significant downgrade in display quality.

anybody else experiencing the same issue or it's just me?

It's the new gorilla armor glass over the display. The anti reflection glass makes the colours less vibrant and seem washed out. It's the same display with the same quality, but the glass just affects how it looks. Your S20 also had a slightly more dense display in terms of pixels, so that may be the big difference you spot.

Thanks for your reply.
But it looks fine on Instagram or X.
Even on the home screen where the issue is more noticeable, it sometimes becomes acceptable depending on the surrounding lighting.
I just hope it's only a fixable software issue and not a permanent hardware problem.

I wouldn't chalk it down to a hardware problem. If the display varies in terms of quality from application to application, then it is most definitely a software issue. I'm getting my S24 Ultra hopefully in a few days, so I may see what you mean. These new phones always have some sort of software bug that will eventually get ironed out down the line.

I wouldn't say it's the new Gorilla Armor glass. The phone looks proper while playing HDR content. Give it a try on YouTube.

I don't think it looks washed out. It's actually pleasant to the eye and I welcome it. I am using full QHD and I am really liking how the screen appears.

Same here on S24+ comparing with my S20+. Washed out colours (seem less visible on YT)

same here. Disabling all the adaptive display and disabling eye comfort definately helps but still not as vibrant as my Z fold 3 and Z flip 4. Will probably return it with in a week if  no fix is available.  Wife is waiting for S24 plus tomorrow, that screen does not have anti reflective like the ultra let see how it does.

If you look at the vivid setting, it basically does nothing. I am hoping this is a software issue, not hardware.
