I've a taken a few shots - using 50mp of the sky and I'm experiencing image banding, ruining otherwise great photos.

You can turn off the optimizer and banding will be gone. But this creates unoptimized images. Report to Samsung in the errors report function of the members app

Can you try taking just a RAW image and see if it has the background issue?

Also, with the RAW image, you can process it yourself and then maybe see what change will cause the bending.

You could also try another camera app like ProShot or Open Camera.

I'll try with Expert Raw and another camera app and report back. I'm convinced that there definitely is an issue as many others online have reported the same concerns.

Then maybe it's another camera issue that this week's update will resolve.

Banding is typically caused by insufficient information such as only low number of colors. I doubt that's the cause. Over processing can create banding, which is more likely the cause. That's why getting raw data from the sensor and processing it yourself should allow you to see if the raw data is OK.
