Galaxy SI remember @Shaggyskunk1 saying he had rooted his S7 so it is deffinetly possible.
I suggest you wait for a reply from him as I am sure he can save you alot of problems by describing how to do it

I've used both Magisk & Chainfire's SuperSU over the years - Chainfire is no longer maintaining SuperSU - But the version in the above link works perfectly - But there may be some advantages to using Magisk as it's still being developed.
