Are the galaxy s8 phones still getting security updates? Or did samsung kill the updates?

According to The Verge, the Galaxy S8 received it's final security patch update in May 2021.

Depending on the chip, ie: Snapdragon or Exynos, you may be able to Root it & Flash Custom Roms. Custom Roms generally have the latest Security Patch built in.

Well considering it's September.. you should have received it long ago now. 

Go to Settings & Software Updates & check.

In Settings > About Phone > Software Information what's the security patch level at the bottom? 

As you can see, mine is August 1st 2021.

If you haven't attempted to Root your phone, then you should have received the latest update. Which on sammobile.com would have been July or August. 

You can manually Flash the CORRECT Firmware from sammobile.com using Odin (Samsung tool).

I would do that but i don't know how and i don't wanna risk breaking/bricking my phone
